Lens-Artist Photo Challenge #100 – The Long and Winding Road

When I saw the theme of this challenge I started to go through my photos knowing I have tons of road photos. As I was going through my photos I noticed how the roads I travel have changed from the long and winding roads of New Canaan, Connecticut where you can drive all four directions -North, East, West and South all while on the same road trying to go to one destination.

I spent many years travelling those paved roads. I watched how over the years more and more cars were on the road – as were more and more people. Bikers, joggers, walkers. They all crowded the roads.

I traded in those roads in for quieter less traversed roads. Dirt roads are my prefered ways to travel these days. We love to drive around in our Gator and explore – sometimes finding a moose crossing the road!

These are the country roads that John Denver sang about, except for they are in New Hampshire.

Hi, Xine. So you’re in NH, too! How lucky you spotted the moose. In all the years we lived in NH (Gilford), I never spotted one. Now we’re on the other side of the state, so I’m on the look out for one. I enjoyed your shot with the painterly effect.

Thank you so much. I love painting up my photos sometimes. We’ve been fortunate enough to see the moose quite often up here on the mountain. Our game cameras have picked up some beautiful ones with fun racks. This was a bit of a surprise in person but it happens since we are really on their turf.

Most definitely – they are huge and extremely fast. My husband watched one run through the woods in deep snow while he was out on his snowmobile and was amazed at the power and speed.
