Flower of Bristol

As we driving up our driveway the other day, I suddenly noticed this beautiful, red flower gleaming in the sunlight like a beacon. I used my app PictureThis to identify the flower and discovered it has many names. The Flower of Bristol caught my eye since the town right next to mine is Bristol and that where our post office is located.

Lychnis chalcedonicaΒ is also referred to as the Maltese Cross, Burning Love, Flower of Constantinople, Fireball, Knight’s Cross, Scarlet Lightning. Since it’s a herbaceous perennial there is a chance I will see this again next year. This is my post for FOTD.
